Not everyone has the money to afford a high-end, great quality Omega watch. When spending a small fortune on a watch is not an option for you replica watches are great investments that still offer the quality and looks of the watches they resemble.

Replica watches are growing in popularity. High-end watches are stylish, great quality, elegant, and fashionable. There is something about owning a nice watch that cannot be beat. While some can afford to buy an Omega watch, there is the replica Omega for those who cannot. Even if you do have the money to afford the real deal, there is nothing cheap or low about buying a replica.

One of the advantages of buying a replica Omega is that you can save money. Replica watches are often much cheaper than the price on the actual watch. It is important to save money, particularly with the current economy. Plus, it is always smart to have extra money saved away for emergencies and the future. Choosing to buy a replica watch rather than the brand name can save you plenty of money.

Another great thing about replica watches is that when they are quality made they look identical to the original watch. No one will ever know that your watch is a fake. People often associate fake with being a bad quality. But choosing to buy a replica is not low. While it is not the real brand name watch, you are still investing in a high quality watch that happens to resemble your favorite watch.

Replica watches come in all shapes and sizes. You can find a replica for almost any watch out there. With the numerous designs and looks, there is a perfect watch for you. If the perfect watch just happens to be exceptionally expensive, you can always take the other route and choose a replica. Replicas are fashionable and stylish and more people wear them than you may realize. If you want a stylish and fashionable watch like the Omega, invest in a replica Omega.

Replica watches also serve as great gifts. Watches in general are cherished gifts to give at birthdays, Christmastime, New Years, and a variety of other special occasions and holidays. If you know someone that would love an Omega watch or another nice watch for that matter, give them a replica Omega or another replica watch. They will not know the difference and even if they did, they would still appreciate your thought.

IWC History

Posted by schumi on Thursday, 27 August, 2009

iwc

An interesting fact you may or may not know: International Watch Company (IWC) is possibly the only major Swiss watch company whose founder was an American!

During the 1860’s, three manufacturers dominated the American watch industry: Elgin, Howard and Waltham. Combined, these firms produced upwards of 100,000 pocket watches. Times were changing in the industry as pocket watches went from being a status symbol that only the wealthiest individuals could afford, to an everyday item available to the middle class. As a result, production methods had to be improved; for example, most parts for watches were still being made by hand. Costs were also high because the pool of available, qualified watchmakers was relatively small.

In Boston, Massachusetts, Florentine Ariosto Jones, who had worked in the American watch industry for a number of years, keenly observed the failure of Aaron Lufkin Dennison, a leader in the watch business, whose efforts to move production to Switzerland to benefit from lower wages and Swiss watchmaking know-how, failed miserably. Undaunted, Jones took over the failed enterprise and soon set up his own company in Switzerland. His plan was to assemble watches in Switzerland and import them into the United States, hence the name International Watch Company.

Fortuitously, Jones made the acquaintance of one Johann Heinrich Moser, a watchmaker whose hometown of Schaffhausen was conveniently located near the Rhine. Following Moser’s advice, a dam was built in order to harness the mighty river and generate hydro-power to drive the machines used in manufacturing facilities throughout Schaffhausen.

A watch factory was built in Schaffhausen to take advantage of the cheap hydro-power and production commenced in 1868. Despite the company’s unique business plan, the enterprise was doomed from the start. For one thing, Jones had trouble selling the watches in America, due to a high tariff on imported finished watches. An even worse problem: Jones was undercapitalized and encountered technical problems with the machines. By 1875, he was scrambling to find new investors, amid allegations by disgruntled stockholders that the company was on the verge of collapse. Inevitably, the company filed for bankruptcy and Jones was forced to relinquish control of his company.

A Swiss consortium acquired IWC’s shares and put another American, Frederick Seeland, at its helm. Although the company’s fortunes improved somewhat, the improvement was not deemed sufficient enough. As a result, the company was put up for sale again. This time, one of IWC’s stockholders, Johannes Raschenbach-Vogel, bought the company at auction for 280,000 francs. Technical achievements and increased sales soon followed with the production of the first pocket watches with digital time indication, as well as development of the famous Calibre 52 movement, which at the time was quite revolutionary in its concept and construction.

Although the company experienced significant growth, following World War I, the company’s fortunes again hit rock bottom under the proprietorship of Ernst Homberger-Rauschenbach. Fortunately, a major modernization effort paid off when the advent of World War II resulted in increased military demand. It was thus during World War II that IWC created the first oversize anti-magnetic pilot’s watch, followed by the famous Mark X, featuring its new in-house movement, Calibre 83. In 1944, IWC had a close call when the Allies mistakenly bombed Schaffhausen. As luck would have it, the factory narrowly escaped destruction.

In the aftermath of the war, International Watch Company lived up to its name and became a company of international scope. Exports to the United States increased and the brand became best known for its specialty watches, such as the Mark XI and Ingenieur – the first automatic IWC with a soft-iron inner case that protected the movement against magnetic fields – as well as for its elegant dress watches. Needless to say, vintage IWC’s from the 1940’s and 50’s are highly collectible today and in great demand, as they are somewhat under-priced compared to other high-end watch brands of that era.

Although IWC entered the quartz era with its first quartz watch in 1969, using the Beta 21 movement, the company was ultimately unable to remain under family ownership. In 1978, a majority interest in the company was sold to VDO Adolf Schindling AG.

Subsequent developments include the debut of the Porsche series of sports watches, which remain in production to this day, as well as the creation of the “DaVinci” – a perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch that is mechanically programmed for the next 500 years. This watch caused quite a stir when first introduced and set new standards with its “user friendly” perpetual calendar. In 1993, the company again stunned the watch world when it unveiled the remarkable Il Destriero, which at the time was the most complicated wristwatch in the world.

The year 2000 is no less exciting for the company, as it introduces a new advertising campaign, as well as the 5000 calibre, a new mechanical movement with a power reserve of seven days and an automatic movement. The automatic, an IWC exclusive, is a further development of the patented Pellaton system. The pocket watch-size movement is featured in the latest addition to the Portuguese line: an automatic with a power reserve display. It should also be noted that 1999 was the most successful year in IWC’s history, with 39,000 watches sold, 115 million Swiss francs in revenue, and over 350 employees.

In closing, the company’s philosophy is best summed up by IWC’s current CEO, Michael Sarp, who recently stated: “We shall produce watches of the highest quality with unique technical and design characteristics and thus continue to experience the pleasures of innovation.” If you should have an opportunity to examine an IWC, you will quickly realize that Mr. Sarp speaks the truth.

The Pros and Cons: Quartz Watches VS Mechanical Watches

Posted by schumi on Wednesday, 5 August, 2009

1. The Pros and Cons of Quartz Watches
Quartz, an white oxide consisted of sio2, vibrates when placed in oscillator circuit, under special condition, it delivers its frequency back to circuit. People take full use of  this feature into quartz movement, transfering electricity into kinetic energy via quartz oscillator. One circuit board with resistance and capacitance device, a watch movement is done,  then assembled by case, crystal and bracelet, that will be a complete quartz watch!

IMG_0121

Cartier Watches

Pros: Accurate, light weight, and easy to maintain.
Cons: Most of quartz batteries last for only one or two years, then you have to replace it with a new item. Second, since quartz watches feature quartz oscillator, which will
decay after five to eight years use, and no longer accurate as before, it’s time to get replaced, though, due to the development of modern industry, and high human cost, it is not worth changing these small components manually, alternatively, why not replace your watch with a new quartz movement?

2. The Pros and Cons of Mechanical Watches:
Mechanical could be divided into the following two: Manual winding up and Automatic. They’re both powered from the spring integrated into watch movement, the spring drives gears and indicators, but different where their power come from. The former can be winded up manually, their movement are normally thinner than automatic watches, so is the weight of watches. Automatic watches are drived by the power derived from the swing of auto device, thicker and heaver than manual winding up watches.

IMG_0113

Longines Watches

Pros: If maintained regularly, it can last for rather long.
Cons: Higher inaccuracy than quartz watches, depending on the manufacturing quality and due to the influence of gravitation from earth. Generally speaking, the error for a mechanical watch can be low to S/D(seconds per day), but it’s S/M(seconds per month) for a quartz watch!

3. Simple tips to distinguish quartz Watches and mechanical watches
Usually, you can get the point via simply looking for the engraved text on back of the case, “QUARTZ” or “AUTOMATIC”. Besides, you could also distinguish them by the way the indicators go,  mechanical watches tick, though, quartz watches hand sweeps smoothly instead of ticking once every second. Occasionally, if the watch ticks two or four seconds at a time, dont worry, it’s still a quartz watch! But take note: when this happens, you may check your battery, consider replacing it since some high grade watch informs you it’s power off via ticking two or four seconds at a time.

4. Mechanical Watches Maintenance
The most common situation you may meet for a mechanical watch, is watered or stricken. Do not get it watered unless it’s signed as “water resistant”. Or it will result in mechanical corrosion, worse if it’s seawater. Even what you own is water resistant watch, in general, it could just last for a year, that’s because of one year wear and tear, along with some outer conditions, i.e. sweat and dust, the rubber ring which can block water will get degraded, so your care will be essential, a good choice is to replace the rubber ring, or you won’t get your watch water resistant any more.

Another thing you may mind more is, keeping away stricken. It’s great if you have two or three watches as choices under your affordability: Quartz watches for sports, and mechanical watches when you’re still, wear watches that suit corresponding circumstances, you watches will last longer.

Mechanical watches are drived by gears items and the spring, surely inevitable friction requires your jobs to keep all the gears running smoothly, i.e. refueling and lubricating, to decrease rate of wearing. Or just repair it until it’s out of work, maybe the problem has been very serious, you mustn’t want to see that things.

Better take your mechanical watches “home”(where it’s manufactured or repaired) every year, see whether you have been wearing it properly, and watered or not. Of course, the first thing, you really cherish your “luxury watches“!

Mechanical watches stand for arts and crafts, but quartz watches are more accurate. hope you guys have found your answers.

Anyway, just enjoy your gadgets, and your life.

10 Simple Mechanical Watches Maintenance Tips You Should Know!

Posted by schumi on Friday, 31 July, 2009

Omega WatchesLonginesIWC

If you have a middle or high-grade mechanical watch, Maybe you should give it a complete maintenance every two or three years, i.e, replace water resistant components, check whether it’s still accurate and how about movement deterioration, clean the movement and make appearance maintenance, etc. these will surely extend the service life of your Mechanical watch. Just take a rest to check the following 10 simple tips about how to maintain your mechanical watches:

1. When wearing your watches, note that your sweat out of your skin will corrode the case, better if it’s made of Ni-Cr alloy for overall steel watches, or it may get corroded in case worn on your wrist for many hours, therefore, it will be nice to dry the sweat with cloth or lay a watch stand below the back case during a rest.

2. Don’t open the back case too often, to avoid getting dust in and being out of normal work.

3. Don’t place your watches everywhere there’s camphor balls, which will drive the oil in the watch useless.

4. Don’t put your watches on or besides your amplifier machine, audio, TV and other similar home devices, to prevent from magnetization.

5. Not Wearing watches for days, maybe you should wind it up manually, shake or swing for several minutes to get it winded up if your watch is automatic, which may keep all the functions fine.

6. Mechanical watch gets damped? dont worry, try pressing it with dry cotton, then baking for 5 minutes besides a 40W bulb(laid about 15cm away), all the humidity will get out! But how if you gotta a quartz watch? Just take a bit of calcium chloride, packed with soft coth, then open the case of your quartz watch, and encase the packed calcium chloride and your watch into a sealed plastic bag or glass bottles, normally you will get your quartz watch fine three hours or more later.

7. When receiveing your lovely watches, and unfolding outer package, do remember keeping all the boxes. these boxes can protect your watches from dropped or stricken! it’s very nice if you can lay it back to boxes when you don’t wanna wear them, which will reduce the rate of damage greatly.

8. Better not wear the same watch for days, more than one watch in storage will be good. not only it helps you be more stylish, but avoid more dust accumulation on the same watch. Take more care of your leather watch bracelet, in case of wear and tear duing to often wearing, or it may look likes an old item even a new watch.

9. Don’t sleep with your watches on your wrist. It’s bad for your health if it’s luminous, this is because the luminous watch dial indicator and the coating of luminescent material, is mainly a mixture of radium and zinc sulfide, radium-ray can stimulate light-emitting zinc sulfide crystals. Sleeping with watches, you may get unhealthy ray radiation, too. Better way you may folllow is taking off you watch from you wrist and laying it on your desk.

10. Cystal renovation. After months’ wears, your crystal may get scratched. Give a few drops of water on the face, and a little of toothpaste, then you can get the crystal back to new by Rubbing the face!

End!
